General Discussion / G2D 2? G2D v6?
« Last post by panic on August 17, 2017, 07:09:17 AM »
Hey Devo,

I have been checking out old web pages and found out that guys from eclipse created Eclipse Renewal that is DX8 based.

Would it be hard to pack it out with G2D features like XGE, 8way movement, pets, spell editor, advanced sprite sheets etc?

It fixed as lot of issues that G2D had like force to restart after creating a character. It seems clean and a bit more modern, just lacking features that you have developed with G2D.

I would love to see this with G2D stuff. Ability to have full screen filled with game and then you can move GUI all around it.

Really like that now you need to press enter to type. It much more responsive.

Not sure if you have seen it but if not please give it a shoot. I am not sure if G2D is based on vanilla xtremeworlds of something else.

Cheers,

panic

Hey Guys!

I have been using Genessis2D back in 2011. Had great fun with it. Unfortunately at that time wasn't able to finish my project. But now after graduating uni and working as game dev I want to give it a go again :) This time as side hobby project.

Looking forward to work with Devo and Genessis2D team to make this engine greater then ever!

  Here's a vid of my old project : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6wNF-SLExP4

I am about to start new one trying to adapt G2D features. Use all i have learned since all those years and this time create something great!

Awesome you guys are still here! Looking forward to hear from you!

Cheers,

panic

Well, it appears the new engine was dropped entirely.  Devo went back to the old VB6 engine from 2009 or what ever year it was made.

As for designing a game... yes some people are.  Has there been anything worth playing? Not yet.  With the amount of bugs I have already encountered, I can almost guarantee the client is not ready for any sort of commercial use.

I have offered on several occasions to help fix bugs or code new features but they all seem to be ignored.  I have familiarized myself with the 4.0 source so I don't know why Devo is not accepting coders.  I can only assume it's more of a personal project for him, than any sort of community service.  In fact, it's been 14 days since we have received any sort of update.  On a side note, the website was actually updated yesterday.  Which is surprising.  Unfortunately, there is no real content.  At least the Donate page works.

It's all dejavu for me.  Lots of talk and no results.  Which is fine, it's not like we are paying him for his services but I wouldn't hold my breath if you want to make a game.

The negativity could be dropped. The amount of betrayal by one, or more, of his original project coders are most likely the main concern of "why not". Yes you do not pay the man for it and he is a 1 man army arm. Even I, whom is way too trusted, am ousted of mulliganing my way through the god awful uncountable coding lines. I've seen it, you don't want to. Point being assuming makes me a giant ass because I say how it goes. Not what you expect to hear. Just be nice. It's a behemoth whom got its ass kicked by idiots with too much coding free time. Sorry about the next but damn give the man some respect.

Edit: How the #&$@ are you luke. Long time man. Wish dark was here too...

Why to be back on g2d. So long ago. The dark side is back to stay. Hello all whom known me as Kicne. And all who do not know me. You should prepare. I'm quite weird. Hello again Devo. I'm prepared to help whichever way I can.

Being one of the good old members and stub-support idealist that spawned a few features. This is a db great engine and not one to abandon. And no eclipse. Robin can kiss the are god hath bestowed me and die of his own cheap ass stupidity.

I have been researching A lot of ways to make a engine in vb like this cross platform.
Don't get me wrong the engine is great but its downfall would be it can only run on windows.
If i was to buy the engine I would address the problems with the engine it has currently,
then focus on development further with cross platform not just the main operating systems
like Linux Windows Mac but others as well.

its a great engine and would love to see it succeed.

thanks.

The only reason I would sell everything to a 3rd party would to see it succeed or succeed better.
It's not something I've ever really thought about because I was so deep into it but I would rather take a step back if someone thought they could take the reigns effectively, sadly there are not too many VB programmers these days into it.
