G2D v2.2b Release Notes

This list was compiled as it was done.

The Demo levels

Firstly the demo engine in the Release has spacemode activated.
To turn it off, client side - Main\config\config.ini
Set Spacemode = 0 to turn it off. This removes the space icon in the upper left
of the game screen.

The demo level is very basicm it shows you mining, space, boats and a couple
of quests etc.. and a NPC question/speech type example.

I decided to make this VERY simple, as the Dev team here is making an online
game which will be like a live demo for users to experience all the features in a
full scale playable mmo.

Instead of a giant download post, I'll put the notes here and the download itself
into another post, in not too long... ETA today amyway Smiley

In your client folder you will now find a new file "Guiedo.exe"
This is the new GUI Editor.

This is for YOU... when you distribute your game - do not include this file.

* For users who cannot see the map editor - there is a new menu in the Map editor main screen to make them visible.

Server Side - Data.ini Additions:

ARENA_MAP=465        This is the Map you are teleported to when entering an Arena
ARENA_EXIT=466        This is the Map you are sent to when winning and Arena match (death returns you to Arena NPC)
ARENA_TIME_LIMIT=30   The amount of time in seconds before you are both kicked from the Arena
ARENA_P1_X=3         Player 1 Start point X
ARENA_P1_Y=3          Player 1 Start point Y
ARENA_P2_X=16         Player 2 Start point X

Jail is enteGreen by raising your player kill level (wanted level) by killing players outside
the arena.

Client\main\Config.ini Changes

MAX_AVATARS=19
MAX_EQAVATARS=19

This is the max_avatar amount - raise this if you want to add more avatars than the default 19.

Fun stuff:

When you are an Admin... target yourself by left clicking on your
character (you will see a yellow indicator above your head)
and then type in /ubergm

This will turn you into a 185x185 sprite (non animated) which can be
fun to scare your players Smiley You can move around and attack and
behave normally.. but you will just be uber large..

This is located in the client/data folder as 0020.bmp, feel free to add your
own sprite - the one provided is for example and belongs to a commercial
game, the name of which I can't recall.

* Added the ability to run the server regardless of the Matrix being online
   Similar to the offline mode, the Trial mode allows 5 players/developers
   to use the server and editors on any given server. You are not required
   to even have an internet connection available to use this mode and
   it would even suit a LAN style environment. This was put in place to
   accomodate those very brief times the Matrix is not active and new users
   and old want to use the engine. The  Trial mode is unlimited in uses
   and can of course host a Live server over WAN, but as mentioned limited
   to what we refer to as Dev Mode, and thats a 5 player maximum.
   As soon as Dev teams require more than this we may increase it.

* Fixed Error Handling on Happy Script Editor, no more crashes (thanks racidon)

* Added ability to request help to the matrix server.

* Xaden added ability for matrix server to chat with your server so we can
assist you better. The reports are sent to the Developers and we will answer
as soon as humanly possible, in a private chat window, in your server.

If it is an emergency you can send a request for help to the Matrix server by sending a report, you can find this under the help tab at the top after your server had booted up.
i will advise everybody here as it does in the server, DO NOT ABUSE THIS FEATURE.
It may result in your server being banned for a short while if it is abused.
If it is not an emergency and you can be patient, simply make a post in the bugs section here in the forum.
If you make a request for help, leave your server on and someone will assist you in the order your request is received.

* Being worked on:

1.  Food system/interface revamp - no new gui and set for it
    due to imminent changes - stay tuned.

2.  More GUI pieces for Guideo (long process, please be patient for all GUI pieces to be editable)

Next release:

 *  New Character GUI
 *  Character Select
 *  Loading Screen
 *  Inventory
 *  Equipped Items

 + more

3. NPC AI - still being worked on

4. Custom NPC Sizing / Custom paperdoll Sizing still being worked on

5. Scrolling Maps + Normal maps option - still being worked on

6. Auto-Tile generator (i hope Ed Smiley)

7. Loot Packs

8.   maps scrolling

9.   no transition on warping

10. plants

11. custom paperdoll size.

12. Horse /mount for players, not jst admins.

13. Uber GM God effects.

14. Custom paperdoll sizing

A NEW MAP EDITOR!!

Yes.. another one! I feel the current one is too bulky.. and
I am creating a new streamlined one, built for functionality, not
eye candy Smiley

+ more  !!

Still lots more planned, so stay tuned!! I know I missed a tonne of stuff ..
and will still do a few things before the download is ready in a few hours.

This release will be a little different than normal, as I am creating demo quests and items etc for this release so people can play a small demo game to become
familiar with the features and how to use them.

I feel in the past we neglected to do this, as most people know the drill
and wipe all maps etc when they download the engine, however this is
not the case for people who have not used it before.

So instead of rushing, I am making a nice demo, cleaning things up
and hoping in that making this demo game (simple quests etc, wont take me long)
that in doing this, I may pick up any bugs we missed.

Omg this is awesome. The most exciting thing definently is the Character Creation and NPC and Character Avatars. This will add a real Baldurs Gate feel to my game Cheesy plus Ill just rip the Hundreds of RMVX Facesets. What's the max it can handle? I'll probably go for 50. 25 Girl 25 Boy ones.

Correct.

Sorry for the delays everyone, but as I'm making this demo game
for the release I'm finding some bugs that I had overlooked.
So I'm just fixing a few things, namely Signs, Notices, Planet/Space
Speeches attached to NPC's... all of which are not working as intended.
